Jola I think you would like them. I am bummed I couldn't go to the show. I'm just too tired from this jetlag.

Bedtimes now!

Hey kids! So I'm taking photos at a wedding this Saturday! Totally exciting, right?

I'm looking for some advice from some of the many, many photographers on this community. Specifically, lighting advice!

Is there any advice you have for someone who just wants to take decent pictures? I've sadly never been to the location (not very smart, I know, but it's in Vantucky and I don't have a car) but I am going to be there earlier in the day to gauge what I need.

But basically what I'm going to be doing is taking photos of the bride, groom & extended families, but I'm worried about lighting. I don't have any sort of light kit or stuff like that, beyond my camera's flash. I've been wanting to buy a light kit anyway, but I'm convinced that something like that will be extremely helpful for the ceremony & reception.

OH, also (why do I suck so hard at writing more than three sentences?!) I'd like to hopefully spend less than $200, because I am a poor college student. Yay!

Specs: I have a Digital Canon Powershot that I've always had super good luck with, as well as a film Canon Rebel to use. Both indoor and outdoor photography, but I'm more concerned about the indoor stuff.
The wedding starts around 6pm, so I'm going to assume night to indoor photography.

What would you guys suggest?

Thank you!

So sleepy

  • Jul. 13th, 2009 at 10:51 AM
I'm suffering the jet lag full on. I am so so sleepy. Just had a mondo cup of English Breakfast tea, doesn't seem to have helped.

Was into work at 7 AM as usual and seemed to feel fine then but now I feel like I'm crashing. Totally struggling.

And to top it off, British Airways lost our luggage on the way back too. For those of you who don't follow me on twitter, they lost our luggage for 4-5 days when we got to Spain, and they managed to lose it on the way back too. They are so fired!

Gimme gimme shock treatment.

Ideas, ideas, I'm out of ideas...

I am hoping taking the summer off will help me refuel my imagination vault. Bright sunshine does not inspire me, neither does sweating. It is currently raining and that is good.

I must make a list of objects that would translate well to the literary industry (keys, bones, tea cups, knives, broken things, lockets, letters), things that speak of nostalgia and mystery and murder. Unfortunately these iconic images have been shot a million times and then some, it leaves me uninspired as well.
My house is full of such nonsense, I just need to walk from room to room (old bottles, tin toys, broken dolls, crumbling books, sacred icons, dried flowers) and take note.

I've asked my husband to make me a new series of masks. I am hoping that will inspire me. The time involved to make the whole series will have me starting in the new year though. Still, they will be wonderful to see.
